Official Opening

25th Oct 2024

Friday, 25th October 2024, was a momentous occasion not only for the school community of St. Teresa's N.S., but also for the wider Ballintogher community.

Mass was concelebrated, in St. Therèse's Church, by Bishop Paul Connell, our Patron, and our Parish Priest, Fr. Pasty McDermott. Pupils from the school took an active part in the liturgy and the school choir, accompanied by organist Enya McCaffery, added wonderfully to the occasion.

Master of ceremonies, Maura Heffernan, Chairperson of the Board of Management, welcomed everyone to the newly refurbished and extended school building.  Our Amber Flag was raised, followed by a blessing of the school by Bishop Paul, who then unveiled the new school plaque. We were delighted to be joined by representatives of both past pupils and the community, Mary McGarry and Michael McKeon, who together cut the ribbon to declare our wonderful school building officially open. There followed a tour of the school, where there was a chance to see a photo story. This included photographs from the old Ballintogher & Crossboy National Schools, which amalgamated into one, Scoil Naomh Treasa,  the site upon which the current, refurbished and extended school building stands today as well as photographs down through the years to the present day. A nice trip down memory lane for some.

Following this we proceeded to the hall in the village, where our wonderful Parents Association and Parent body provided us with a wonderful array of sandwiches, cakes and goodies.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who helped out in anyway, big or small, to help make the day the resounding success that it was.
